was born at Cape Cod Hospital & grew up in Harwich.
Her father, Bill Derwin, was a designer and builder of Cape
homes noted for their colonial-style detailing and craftsmanship.
Her mother, Rose Glynn Derwin, was a teacher in what at
the time was a new subject: home economics. She says her
dad was like Norm Abrams and her mom, Martha Stewart - but
each more talented and ahead of their times. After working
at Snow Inn, her parents purchased the Mitton farm on Sisson
Road and turned it into the Country Inn in 1948.
